Break the silence:
Condemn the Crimes of the Syrian Regime
For over a year the Muslims in Syria have been facing bombardment from Bashar Al Asad and his army. Thousands of innocent men, women and children have been ruthlessly murdered and thousands more terrorised. Certain cities have been under siege with people ‘waiting to die’. In particular the Syrian city of Homs has been surrounded by troops with murderous intentions. These troops have moved into the district of Bab Amr with fears for several thousand Muslims. With reports of men hauled into makeshift detention centre and executed.
Similarities are being made between the massacre in Homs to those in Fallujah in Iraq and Srebrenica in Bosnia, were thousands of Muslims were indiscriminately slaughtered. Our silence in these past calamities allowed the Ummah in regions of Palestine, Bosnia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Chechnya, etc… to be savagely killed. Our continued silence has now allowed a new tragedy to occur. As Muslims we should break the silence and condemn the crimes of the Syrian Regime. The Ummah cannot allow another calamity to occur with no response. Rather we should be unified with our brothers and sisters in Syria. If they are suffering then we should be suffering. The Messenger (saw) taught us that the Ummah is one, that our war is one, our peace is one and our honour is one. So how can we be excluded from their conflict?
Allah (swt) says:
"The believers, men and women, are awliyyaa' (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another: they enjoin good and forbid evil".
[Quran 9:67]
As Muslims we should support our Ummah in Syria with whatever means possible- financially, physically & verbally. We should struggle to lift the oppression from the Muslims in Syria and stop the killing of our Ummah. We cannot put reliance in United Nations or the Arab League, who have sat back and done nothing. Let us break the silence and as an Ummah gather together to show unity with the Muslims in Syria. Also we must forbid Bashar Al Asad and show that Muslims around the world will not tolerate his transgression against Islam and Muslims.
